Was wird über Wald gedacht und wie interagieren Menschen mit diesem? Diesen Fragen bin ich zusammen mit anderen Studierenden der Universidad Nacional Intercultural de Quillabamba in Peru und der Albert-Ludwigs-Universität in Freiburg, Deutschland nachgegangen.
Wie können wir unseren Konsum nachhaltig gestalten? Was ist der Unterschied zwischen nachhaltigem Konsum und Konsumverzicht? Was bewegt Menschen dazu, weniger zu konsumieren? Und ist Nachhaltigkeit im kapitalistischen System überhaupt möglich?
Gender could be seen as a topic in Social Structure, but as it is a vast topic I really care about I’m writing a little bit more about it. When I hear gender, some words bump into my mind like gender equality, feminism, third gender, LGBTQ+ community, sex and so on. Those are important things, but gender in Ethnology is even more, as you can read here.
Social structure is one of the most important subdisciplines of Ethnology. It is about relations between people. That can be relatives, close friends, colleagues or acquaintances. Relationships are fundamental for everyone and give a certain structure in our lives.
Religion is for everyone something different. So how should we be able to find out which religion a society has? Of course you can say they are buddhists, muslims, or members of another religion. But is their belief real? What exactly do they believe in? Are they religious? After all, what is religion?
Economy is about how we get the things we need for a living. Very important is for example food. When you are hungry, you just go into the next supermarket and buy a sandwich, don’t you? It’s easy in our society, we can consume everywhere and everything we can imagine. Together with consumption, production and distribution are associated with economy. Meaning: How are things produced? And how do they get from the producer to the consumer? We often can’t follow this path of distribution, we have no idea under which condition our things are produced.
